Strips of joy

最近 Stop Bath を使わないで現像してみてます。ハイポもphoto floもなし。適当でなんとかなるもんですね。

仕事がいまいちすすまないー。

I usually dry film in bathroom, but I just installed 4 hooks in the kitchen as well. Gotta develop more and more!! :D

ノクトンたん届いた。

中古で買ったノクトンたん、ギリギリセーフで到着。

もっと巨大かと思ってたけど、カメラにくっつくけてみた奥行はSummicron 35/2にフードつけた状態と同じ。Nokton 50/1.5はそれなりに現代のレンズなので細かいこと気にしなければフードなしでもなんとかなるでしょう。Nokton Classic 40/1.4とかにすればだいぶ小さくなるんだけども、ここは50mmにこだわりたいのです。クロップしない主義ですし。

Summiluxとくらべると、ボケがうるさいとか、コントラストが低いとかいわれてるみたいです。そうなのかな。白黒しか撮る気ないので、コントラストはもっと低くてもよいくらいなのだけど。

現行Summiluxの1/10以下で買えるんだから、日本のコシナさんはすごいですねえ。


だけど、やっぱりElmar-Mの縮めた時のちっこさはやっぱりすごいです。コートのポケットにスポット入りますし、とにかく軽い。やっぱり日常のメインはこれからもエルマーになるんだろうなあ。ノクトンだとサイズがサイズなので目立ってしまってCandidはかなり難しそうだし。ノクトンには時々、「先生、よろしくお願いします」という感じでどーんと出ていただく感じになるでしょう。

片付けないといけない仕事もたまってるけど、ノクトンたん改めノクトン先生のためし撮りフィルム終わらせて、今晩のうちに現像してしまおう。。。

Girl in the cold

なんかF2.8のレンズでもなんとかなるがしてきたけど、冬のヨーロッパをなめてるかしら。というか、寒いんだろーなー。セーターの一枚すら持ってないし、サンフランシスコのあまっちょろい冬に飼い慣らされてる身にはつらそうだなあ。

Coffee Break French というポッドキャストでフレンチ勉強してみてるものの、まーーーーたっくだめっぽいっす。こっちの人は高校とかで外国語としてフレンチとってたりするから、多少は基礎がわかってたりするんだけどねえ。

こんにちはっていって、名前いって、名前聞いて、またねって言うことしかできません。ははははは。フランスの人は英語しゃべってくんないしなー。

まー、なんとかなるさ。

Roll 'n Roll

暗ーいフランス用にNokton 50/1.5を中古で買ってみました。Elmarの2.8にすっかり慣れてるから1.5とか使えるかしら。

一応35mmも持っていくけれど、あえてここは50mmだけでどこまでいけるかやってみたいと思います。

レンズはまだ届いてなくて、上の写真はいつものエルマー姐さんです。まー、こうやってみると、F2.8でも十分な気がしてきたなー。

Babel

「ガイジン」をそれなりに長いことやってますと、いろいろ考えることもあったりします。

月の出る夜は、ワインの一杯もひっかけて、気の許せる友達と二人でだらだら歩くのもいいもんです。

なんとか、いろんな事のスピードやらなんやらを、向上させようと努力する次第な新年なのであります。

Ride home

そんなことを考える、寒い夜もありましたとさ。

久しぶりにジェームス君も連れて暗室行ってきました。そろそろファイバーベースにも手を出したいと思いますです。

Big surprises and great sadness might fade away with time, but those tiny happiness and a little warmth in a chilly night ride home are the ones that will linger.

Fancy feet

全然写真と関係ないですけど、じみーにギター練習中。そんなことしてる場合じゃないのに。ぐるぐるに煮詰まったときに少しジャラジャラやるとすこーしリラックスできます。日本にいたころにバンドでやってたベース以来の楽器。やっとFが押さえられるようになったよ。

Oh boy, so many rolls are piling up in my photo cabinet, waiting to be developed. I only have a two-reel tank so it will take a bit of time to process them all. But I should finish all that before I take off to France because, well, I'll be back with crazy amount of rolls... :D

And I really gotta go down to darkroom soon. There are many many prints I wanna make...

She will enjoy her quiet sunny bay window seat and the lazy-girl chair by herself. I'll get busy at work starting Monday.

What's your new year resolutions for 2010?

I'm still gathering pics for the book. At least I'm getting to know the subjects and the style I like.

For this year, I'd like to shoot more Medium Format, and also will try to shoot more color as well. But I must say they aren't my top priority. The main thing is to develop my own style further with the medium and tools that I feel right at home so that I can focus on the subject and the theme that I'd like to express.

I'd also like to do more of photography as a whole. The end result will probably be bunch of gelatin silver prints, and I will see where that takes me. "We" have some other plans as well. ;)
